San Jose’s First Solar-Powered Monument Sign

This monument sign, located at a strip center in San Jose, California, represents a groundbreaking achievement as the first of its kind to receive approval from the City of San Jose’s Planning and Building departments. Powered by a 6′ x 6′ solar panel generating 450 watts, the innovative design incorporates battery storage to power 238 LED modules within the 5′ wide by 8′ high sign.
To optimize sunlight exposure, the solar panel was strategically installed 70 feet away from the sign, ensuring maximum energy efficiency. This forward-thinking approach not only highlights a commitment to sustainable energy solutions but also sets a new standard for eco-friendly signage in commercial spaces.
By leveraging clean solar energy, this project exemplifies the integration of modern technology and environmental stewardship in urban development, paving the way for more sustainable solutions in San Jose and beyond.
