Office Cleanliness to Combat COVID-19
With the Omnicron variant of COVID-19 spreading across the globe, everybody is reassessing their standards for cleanliness, interacting with others and how much they should be traveling during the holidays. Concerns are on the rise and businesses need to take note of their employees mindset, mental health and preferences for safety.
A study conducted in October, 2021 from the Cleaning Coalition of America, asked 1,800 U.S. employees to provided their preferences regarding office place cleanliness. 77% of the employees reported that they wanted the workplace cleaned on a daily basis. These cleaning measures would make them feel safer when returning to the office.
Another finding of the study was that improved communication regarding COVID-19 protocols was of high importance to employees. An increase of signage around the workplace which reminded people to hand-wash or company policies regarding COVID-19 would help ease employees’ minds. “American workers experienced a turbulent year that has forever changed their expectations around workplace safety,” said Josh Feinberg, Cleaning Coalition of America President. “As employees return to the workplace, it is more critical than ever that businesses rethink their cleaning best practices and adopt a more holistic view of safety that prioritizes worker well-being.”
