How Technology Effects Restaurants
Once upon a time, customer’s either knew about a restaurant through word-of-mouth or stumbled upon it based on their proximity to that particular restaurant. But technology has changed how customer’s decide on their restaurant of choice. Sites like Yelp and TripAdvisor help people decide where to go and can even book a table before arriving at the location.
Here’s some stats found by a study conducted at SignStix:
“70% of all adults use smartphones or tablets, and 57% of consumers will use them to read online reviews before visiting a restaurant.”
70% of consumers say that technology speeds up service
88% of consumers use restaurant technology to look up restaurant locations, directions and hours of operation
43% use technology to make a reservation
With the increase in technology-usage, customers’ are looking towards restaurants to provide as much information (before and during the meal) as well as an improved experience through the use of technology. This could include facts about where the customer’s food/drink came from, an interactive menu or recommendations from an interactive digital display.
