Elementary Students Get Digital
With the advances in technology over the last twenty years, it was only a matter of time until technology became a larger part of children’s education. One goal of elementary schools is to provide a laptop or tablet for every student. Projectors will be a thing of the past (just like the old tv carts are now a long-lost memory!). The hope is that teachers will still facilitate the learning of a topic, but instead of the projector, students will be able to interact with their tablets to communicate information back to the teacher wirelessly.
Cloud-based memory will be used instead of needing discs and thumb-drives. This will allow for everybody to access the same programs without the software that was once necessary.
The challenge is to bring every teacher, student and classroom up to the standards put in place by the new technology. A plan needs to be implemented to make sure that learning is maximized with these tools rather than hindered by a lack of using a traditional teaching method.
